Pre-Kindergarten students at the United Methodist Children's Home Bright Start program (formerly Happy Time Day Care) participated in "Museum in the Classroom" on January 10. After hearing the story, "When a Line Bends, a Shape Begins," each child was given a sheet of paper with masking tape placed at random. The children then sponge-painted different colors on the paper. When the tape was removed, the preschoolers were surprised to see how many shapes they had created! Shape Bingo rounded out the lesson, with every preschooler winning prizes when he/she achieved, "Bingo!" Bright Start is part of a county-wide Pre-K grant administered by Mount Vernon City Schools, District 80 and funded by the Illinois State Board of Education. |
